As Technology Operations Lead for BBC Children in Need, you’ll play a key role in ensuring the reliability, excellence and compliance of the charity’s technology services. Leading a team of technology specialists you’ll oversee service assurance across a diverse portfolio, working closely with key suppliers, while helping to shape the future of service management at the BBC. YOUR KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND IMPACT
- Lead, develop, and motivate teams through strong, inclusive, and effective leadership.
- Line manage a team, including performance management, work allocation, quality standards, and progress tracking; support recruitment, onboarding, and training.
- Ensure services comply with relevant internal and external policies and standards, including Information Security, GDPR, PCI‑DSS, BBC ITACU, the Fundraising Regulator, and Ofcom.
- Manage the operational technology budget, ensuring effective control and value for money.
- Communicate complex written and verbal information clearly to a wide range of stakeholders, including confidently explaining technical concepts to non-technical audiences.
- Identify risks and issues within the functional area, creating and recommending appropriate solutions and escalating where necessary.
- Drive continuous improvement by identifying opportunities, delivering enhancements, and measuring impact.
YOUR SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
- Strong leadership experience, with a proven ability to motivate and develop teams through vision, challenge, and support.
- Hands‑on day‑to‑day team management experience, including goal setting, one‑to‑ones, and improving structures and processes to enhance service delivery.
- Operational service delivery or service management experience within a large and complex organisation.
- Proven experience managing third‑party suppliers through effective contract and relationship management.
- Experience defining, managing, and reporting against SLAs aligned to business outcomes.
- Experience developing processes aligned to the ITIL v3 framework.
- Experience delivering technology services supporting one or more of the following areas: CRM, Finance, Fundraising, Grantmaking, eCommerce, or Data Integration.
- Experience working with technology risk and regulatory compliance frameworks to deliver secure, high‑quality services.
- Experience managing service transition, including working with project teams to ensure smooth implementation and effective knowledge transfer.
- Experience managing major incidents and leading service recovery activities.
