PURPOSE OF THE ROLE
Join BBC Media Operations as a Rigger Supervisor and play a key role in delivering some of the UK's biggest live broadcasts. You'll help transport and rig outside broadcast equipment, support technical operations, and work on high-profile events nationwide. This hands-on role offers varied work, training and development opportunities, and the chance to be part of an expert, supportive team delivering world-class content for audiences across the UK and beyond.

YOUR KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND IMPACT
- Drive and position OB vehicles – Safely manoeuvre, position, stabilise and interconnect vehicles in accordance with operational plans and transport legislation.
- Load and transport equipment safely – Ensure vehicles and trailers are loaded, weighed and checked in line with legal and operational requirements before travel.
- Rig and operate technical equipment – Install, test and maintain cabling, broadcast infrastructure and outside broadcast equipment on site.
- Lead site set-up activities – Erect support structures, coordinate and supervise rigging activities and maintain high equipment standards.
- Support communications and power systems – Operate generators, deploy communications systems and assist with audio equipment set-up.
- Support stores operations – Assist with the picking, loading, transportation and distribution of operational equipment.
- Play a key part in daily stock control - equipment maintenance, warehouse organisation and the continuous improvement of the operations.
- Maintain fleet and operational equipment – Ensure OB vehicles, HGVs and associated equipment are clean, safe, compliant and ready for use.
YOUR SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
ESSENTIAL CRITERIA
- Valid Category C+E (Class 1) driving licence, Driver CPC and Driver Qualification Card. We will also consider candidates with relevant transferable experience who are willing to undertake training to achieve these qualifications within the first six months of employment.
- Demonstrate a strong understanding of transport legislation, vehicle compliance and safe working practices.
- Work flexibly in a fast-paced operational environment, remaining calm and effective under pressure while supporting shift-based working patterns.
- Build and maintain positive working relationships through strong communication and teamwork skills across operational, technical and production teams, with experience of manual handling and physically demanding tasks.
- Flexibility. As part of supporting live broadcast operations, this role involves flexible working patterns, including evenings, weekends and occasional overnight stays, reflecting the nature of live production and event coverage.
DESIRABLE CRITERIA
- Understanding of broadcast equipment, workflows and operational practices, particularly within live radio and outside broadcast environments.
- Experience of rigging, installing and supporting broadcast, communications or streaming equipment.
- Knowledge of health and safety legislation and a commitment to safe working practices.
- Good technical aptitude, with the ability to identify, troubleshoot and resolve issues in operational environments.
- Previous experience within the broadcast, outside broadcast, live events or media production industry.
