LOCATION: BBC Roath Lock Studios

PROPOSED SALARY RANGE: £27,000 - £29,000 depending on relevant skills, knowledge and experience.

Interviews will take place w/c 17th August 2026. The successful candidate will ideally start no later than early September.

PURPOSE OF THE ROLE

The Costume Junior plays a vital role in supporting the Costume Department on Casualty, ensuring the smooth day-to-day delivery of costume services across studio and location filming. Working closely with the Series Costume Designer and Costume Coordinators, the role involves assisting with costume preparation, continuity, dressing supporting artists, stock management, and garment maintenance. The Costume Junior helps maintain high production standards through strong organisational skills, attention to detail, and practical costume knowledge. By ensuring costumes are clean, repaired, labelled, and readily available, the role contributes to the authenticity, continuity, and overall success of the production.

YOUR KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND IMPACT

  • Assist with the preparation, organisation, fitting, and dressing of principal and supporting artists, ensuring costumes meet production requirements and continuity standards.
  • Maintain costume stock, truck kits, and wardrobe storage areas, ensuring all garments and accessories are accurately labelled, tracked, and readily available.
  • Support the Costume Designer and Costume Coordinators with daily administrative and operational tasks to ensure the smooth running of the Costume Department.
  • Carry out costume maintenance duties, including repairs, alterations, washing, dry cleaning coordination, ironing, and embroidery to keep costumes production-ready.
  • Document costume continuity and support filming across both studio and location environments, ensuring costumes remain consistent throughout the production process.

YOUR SKILLS AND EXPERIENCES

  • Demonstable experience within a Costume Department, from TV, Theatre or Film.
  • Demonstrable knowledge of IT equipment and software.
  • Demonstrable good understanding of the principles, practices and roles for costume within television and film production.
  • Evidenced ability to do alterations and have good sewing skills.
  • An understanding and ability to work efficiently to production continuity.
  • Knowledge and passion for Drama, especially Casualty.
