You may help with the set‑up of filming on location or in the studio for one of our programmes like The One Show, or schedule crews and freelancers for Women’s Hour. No media experience or qualifications needed – just enthusiasm and problem‑solving skills. Whether you’re finishing school or changing careers, this hands‑on role offers a pathway into production management at one of the world’s leading broadcasters.

The BBC Studios Entertainment team in Bristol produces some of the UK’s most popular programmes, including Antiques Roadshow, RHS Chelsea Flower Show, Countryfile, Gardeners’ World, and Fake or Fortune?. We’ve also created content for Channel Four, Channel Five, and digital platforms like Pinterest, YouTube, and Facebook. Our Production Management apprentices work across a variety of shows, gaining hands‑on experience in studio and on location. Past placements included Nigella’s Amsterdam Christmas Special and Antiques Roadshow. Apprentices typically rotate every 2–3 months, developing key skills across multiple productions and formats. This is our entry‑level position into production management; you will work as a Production Management Assistant, supporting our Production Managers and Production Coordinators in creating quality content for all of our output, which may include TV, audio, online, events and digital platforms.

YOUR KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND IMPACT

• Coordinate travel, accommodation, dietary requirements and PPE for production team and crew.
• Assist with shoots, crew bookings, and call sheets.
• Work on location and across our BBC Offices.
• Complete post‑production paperwork for programmes and international versions on Silvermouse alongside the other PC and PMAs.
• Learn best practices in production management, Health & Safety, and compliance.

On successful completion of your apprenticeship, you will be able to apply for job roles such as a Production Management Assistant, Production Secretary, or Production Coordinator, depending on experience both inside and outside of the BBC.

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA

To be eligible for an apprenticeship at the BBC, you must:

• Be 18 years old or over by the time the apprenticeship begins in September 2026.
• Have lived in the UK continuously for the last three years prior to the start of the apprenticeship.
• Be legally eligible to work full‑time in the UK for the entire duration of the apprenticeship.
• Not currently be enrolled in another apprenticeship programme, whether with the BBC or another organisation.

For candidates under the age of 19 years at the start of the apprenticeship, you must have achieved Maths and English GCSE at Grade 4/C or above or National 5 (Scotland) at C or Functional Skills Level 2 or equivalent qualification. If you have not achieved these qualifications, you will be required to achieve Functional Skills Level 2 before the end of your apprenticeship when you take your end‑point assessment.
