CONTRACT TYPE: Ten month Fixed‑term contract running to end of March 2027

DEPARTMENT: Chief Customer Operating Group (CCOG)

LOCATION: London – Hybrid

PROPOSED SALARY RANGE: £25,700 - £31,600, plus London Weighting (£5,441pa) depending on relevant skills, knowledge and experience. The expected salary range for this role reflects internal benchmarking and external market insights. We're happy to discuss flexible working. PURPOSE OF THE ROLE

Join the BBC’s TV Audiences Research team to help shape content that resonates with millions. As an Audience Research Executive, you’ll support the delivery of strategic and creative insights that inform content decisions across the BBC. Your work will ensure audiences remain at the heart of everything we do, from programme development to marketing and beyond.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND IMPACT

  • Provide programme ratings data and analysis to a wide range of stakeholders.
  • Provide audience insights on YouTube viewing and SVOD viewing.
  • Deliver regular reports on audience viewing behaviours and trends.
  • Support ad hoc research projects with data analysis and insight generation.
  • Develop expertise in BARB, iPlayer data, and Techedge and Tubular tools.
  • Contribute to qualitative and quantitative research, including questionnaire and discussion guide development.

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

ESSENTIAL CRITERIA

  • Evidence of strong numeracy skills and ability to analyse data effectively.
  • Evidence of strong written communication skills with the capability of translating data analysis into clear and coherent stories that inspire creativity and inform decision making.
  • Ability to build relationships with team members and creative stakeholders.
  • Familiarity with the UK TV/broadcast market, ideally through industry experience or media studies with the ability to articulate observations and insights about both the market dynamics and creative content.

DESIRABLE

  • Knowledge of BARB data and systems.
  • Experience using Techedge, TUBULAR or similar audience analysis tools.
  • Background in both qualitative and quantitative research methods.
  • Experience in audience research or insight, preferably within television, media, or market research.

This role is currently advertised as internal only. Freelancers who have been on a Worker Contract continuously for 6 months may apply. If less than 6 months or if a break of 3 weeks or more exists, approval from Divisional HR is required.
