BB7 is looking for an experienced
Principal Fire Safety Engineer to strengthen our team in Scotland.
This is a senior technical and client-facing role for someone who enjoys solving complex fire-safety challenges, setting a high standard of engineering judgement and helping colleagues develop.
Working from either our Glasgow or Edinburgh office on a hybrid basis, you will lead and contribute to a varied portfolio of projects.
Your work will span fire strategies, technical design, fire-engineering analysis and modelling, and trusted client advisory support.
You will have the autonomy to lead significant projects, the credibility to influence decisions, and the support of a specialist team committed to practical, rigorous fire-safety advice.
- What you’ll do
- Lead the delivery of fire-safety engineering projects from early design through to completion.
- Develop, review and sign off robust fire strategies and technical fire-safety advice.
- Undertake and oversee fire-engineering analysis and modelling where appropriate.
- Advise clients, design teams and stakeholders on complex fire-safety, compliance and risk issues.
- Provide clear, proportionate recommendations that balance safety, technical quality and project realities.
- Manage project scope, quality, programme, commercial performance and client relationships.
- Review technical work, mentor engineers and support the development of the wider team.
- Help strengthen BB7’s reputation as a trusted specialist adviser in fire safety.
- What you’ll bring
- Significant experience in fire-safety engineering, fire strategies, technical design and/or performance-based fire engineering.
- Strong capability in fire-engineering analysis and modelling.
- Experience leading client relationships and delivering technically complex projects.
- A relevant degree in engineering, fire safety or a related discipline.
- IFE membership or an equivalent professional affiliation.
- Chartered Engineer status, or application underway
- Excellent written communication, judgement and the ability to explain technical issues clearly to different audiences.
- A collaborative, practical approach and a commitment to high professional standards.
