We are seeking a highly motivated Oil Fundamental Analyst to join our trading analytics team in London. The successful candidate will focus on Middle Distillates (diesel, jet, gasoil) and/or Light Ends (gasoline, naphtha), delivering actionable insights to support trading strategies, risk management, and commercial decision-making for both our physical and derivatives traders.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct supply-demand analysis for global and regional oil product markets, with a primary focus on middle distillates and/or light ends
  • Track and interpret refining margins, arbitrage flows, and freight economics
  • Monitor inventories, trade flows, refinery outages, and policy/regulatory changes impacting product balances
  • Build and maintain databases, models, and dashboards for forecasting balances, cracks, and spreads
  • Collaborate with traders to translate analysis into commercially relevant insights
  • Prepare and present regular market reports and ad hoc deep dives

Desired Skills & Experience

  • 3–5 years’ experience in oil markets, preferably within a trading house, oil major, investment bank, or research consultancy
  • Strong knowledge of oil product fundamentals (especially middle distillates and/or light ends)
  • Proven ability to interpret macroeconomic trends, refining dynamics, and flows data
  • Advanced Excel skills (VBA or Python a plus); experience with Bloomberg, Kpler, Vortexa, or similar data providers desirable
  • Strong quantitative, analytical, and modelling capabilities
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English; able to present confidently to commercial teams
