We are looking for an experienced Senior Operations Manager to join our team, based in Location. The role will require some UK travel. You will work alongside a diverse and supportive team to support the delivery of the aims and objectives of our projects.
What you will do
- You will report to the Head of Solar and guide and manage a team of Solar O&M Lead Asset Managers and Solar O&M Asset Managers to meet contractual deadlines and demands.
- Ensure that we encounter no LDs and provide operational excellence.
- Guide and manage the Lead Solar Analyst and their team of Solar Analysts to ensure monitoring and performance of the sites as well as all contractual obligations around availability reporting and site performance are met.
- Be the escalation point of contact for clients requiring solutions beyond normal expectations.
- Take ownership of the BayWa r.e. portfolio of solar farms and ensure successful delivery of services and client management.
- Work with the Senior Technical Operations Manager to ensure alignment between teams and create/support processes as required.
- Engage the team and involve remote members in working groups.
- Optimise overall team utilisation through guidance and empower team leaders to find the best solutions.
- Set out and report on a set of solar KPIs to monitor site and department performance.
- Lead the adoption and onboarding/integration of new solar assets into operations.
- Build relationships with Senior Management of clients and stakeholders to promote best practices and collaboration.
- Ensure all teams standardise their approach to operations using best industry practices and comply with legislation.
- Manage internal budgets for direct department costs and work with the finance team for timely invoicing.
- Drive additional services and maximise revenues for the solar department, ensuring financial KPIs and targets are met.
- Work with the digitalisation transformation manager to implement and drive the use of digital tools.
- Support the development and implementation of company processes, ensuring high standards of service.
- Create monthly meetings for full team involvement and input.
- Identify, develop, and mentor talent across the team for best-in-class services and employee progression opportunities.
- Ensure all activities comply with UK HSE legislation and other industry rules.
What you’ll need to succeed
- Degree in a technical or commercial field (desirable).
- Minimum of 5 years’ professional experience, with at least 2 years in the UK large scale solar industry.
- Excellent line management skills and ability to work with various stakeholders.
- Strong leadership skills with a proven track record of leading projects and teams.
- Extensive experience of service contracts and underlying technical, commercial, and legal provisions.
- Excellent commercial insight for assessing key value drivers of projects.
- Active listener who values others’ viewpoints.
