As a Control Centre Team Leader - UK, you will support the day-to-day running of the UK Control Centre, helping to ensure the safe and efficient monitoring of BESS, wind and solar assets. You will work closely with the team to provide structure, guidance and support, while building consistent ways of working and improving overall performance.
The role involves close collaboration with internal teams and other international Control Centres to maintain service quality and operational alignment. This role will be based in Edinburgh/Glasgow (non contractual hybrid working).
What you will do
- You will lead the day-to-day operations of the UK Control Centre, ensuring reliable monitoring of BESS, wind and solar assets.
- You will support and develop a small team of operators, providing guidance, structure and regular feedback.
- You will be required to set clear priorities and expectations for the team, ensuring consistent ways of working and accountability.
- You will ensure compliance with Health, Safety and Environmental standards, including WTSR.
- You will act as the main point of contact for operational topics, coordinating with internal teams, customers and service providers.
- You will drive improvements in processes and ways of working, focusing on efficiency and quality of service.
- You will be responsible for monitoring operational performance and support actions to reduce downtime and improve response times.
- You will work closely with other Control Centres (Munich and Bangkok) to ensure alignment and knowledge sharing.
- You will support onboarding and training of new team members, helping build a capable and motivated team.
What you’ll need to succeed
- Degree or equivalent experience in engineering, renewable energy, or a related technical field.
- 3–5 years’ experience in renewable energy operations (wind, solar, or BESS), ideally within a control room or O&M environment.
- Experience leading shifts, supervising teams, or acting as a senior operator, with accountability for day-to-day performance.
- Good understanding of safe systems of work and UK HSE requirements (WTSR knowledge desirable).
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise and manage operational workloads effectively.
- Clear and confident communication skills, with a practical and service-oriented approach.
- Proactive mindset, with the ability to bring structure and improve ways of working.
- Comfortable using digital tools and monitoring systems.
- Fluent in spoken and written English.
Desirable Skills:
- Experience with BESS Operations, balancing mechanism or energy markets.
- Exposure to process improvement or quality management systems.
Additional Requirements:
- Willingness to work occasional weekends and on-call duties.
