We are looking for an experienced Site Manager to join the Asset Operations Solar Repowering Projects delivery team. This role will be homebased, with travel to our sites, with frequent overnight stays.
What You Will Do
- Manage safe and reliable construction activities on “Operational” utility scale solar farms, back to operation and maintenance of the projects within the BayWa Asset Operations portfolio in the UK & Northern Ireland, in accordance with agreed contracts, operating plans and budgets.
- Ensure compliance with the Construction (Design and Management) Regulations 2015 for the duration of the works.
- Ensure that teams are working in accordance with the BayWa Health, Safety, Quality and Environment procedures and relevant H&S legislation.
- Adhere to Health and Safety requirements at all times, assist with maintaining and improving safety standards across the project portfolio, including Health & Safety reporting and auditing.
- Supervise Construction activities, Operation & Maintenance contractor site management in compliance with the contracts, permits and authorisations.
- Ensure that the projects are completed safely, on time, to budget and to the highest standard of workmanship.
- Ensure on site quality inspections and checks are carried out as per the project Inspection and Test Plan.
- Keep the Project Manager informed of non‑compliance, accidents, incidents, or close calls via BayWa reporting mechanisms.
- Ensure that plant, tools, and equipment being used on site are certificated, maintained and safe prior to accessing site.
- Carry out regular safety and quality audits on all sub‑contractors, suppliers and operatives accessing site.
- Carry out site inductions and ensure everyone is inducted prior to starting work.
Contractor Management
- Manage contractor performance, safety and quality as required.
- Deal directly with the Client and other third parties that arrive on site.
- Provide technical support to contractors.
- Ensure that all subcontractors' safe systems of work are reviewed and implemented.
- Be the first point of contact at the site for deliveries and collections.
Project Management
- Keep accurate site records and compile progress reports.
- Liaise with the Asset/Project Manager daily on project specification and site work updates.
- Maintain close communication with the project's electrical engineer.
- Undertake project work according to legal, technical, manufacturer and contractual requirements.
- Lead and attend regular site team meetings with stakeholders.
- Ensure the project Construction Phase Plan is fully implemented.
- Analyse and manage the programme.
- Assist the Project Manager regarding specific access/land/welfare requirements.
- Maintain a site diary and action list to ensure all issues are recorded and addressed.
What You’ll Need To Succeed
- In depth CDM knowledge.
- Hold a current SMSTS qualification.
- Have a high level of Health & Safety Awareness.
- Hold a current First Aid Certificate.
- Have strong Communication and interpersonal Skills.
- Have experience in low and high voltage electrical projects/works.
- Be IT literate with good contract administration skills.
- Be able to demonstrate an ability to control and manage sub‑contractors.
- Be capable of programming works.
- Contract awareness.
- Strong technical understanding of AC, DC and communications networks.
- Experience in a client facing role.
