- Contract: Fixed-term contract
- Delivery: Online via Microsoft Teams
- Teaching Schedule: Teaching 10 hours a week, Monday to Friday, 09.00 - 11.10 BST (10 min break) plus marking and tutorials. Tutorials between 1-3 hours a week.
- Start date: Early May 2026 or late June 2026
- Duration: 6 or 12-week programme
- Pay: Range between £420 and £520 pw, depending on student numbers. This rate is delivery inclusive of marking, tutorials, admin, meetings, preparation, and exam delivery
- Partner institutions: Music and Arts universities in the North of England
- Student profile: International arts students, primarily Chinese L1, IELTS 5.0–6.0 entry range
About the Programme
This pre-sessional EAP programme prepares international arts students to meet the English language entry requirements of Music and Arts universities in the North of England. Students have narrowly missed institutional thresholds and are working towards CEFR B2+ - C1 equivalency.
The Role
You will plan and deliver structured, engaging EAP lessons online, teach across all four skills, assess student work against SELT-aligned scoring at B2–C1, and provide constructive feedback within agreed turnaround times. You will also maintain accurate records, meet administrative deadlines, and flag any student concerns promptly to the Programme Manager. The programme provides a full curriculum, daily tasks, and materials. You will be expected to supplement these as needed and to adapt your delivery to the cohort’s strengths and challenges.
Requirements
- A master’s degree in EAP, Applied Linguistics, TESOL, or a closely related field
- A recognised ELT teaching qualification
- At least two years’ experience delivering EAP for a UK university
- Direct experience teaching Chinese L1 learners desirable
- Familiarity with SELT question formats and SELT-aligned scoring at B2–C1
- Strong administrative reliability and prompt communication
- A collaborative, flexible, and solutions-focused approach
- Stable and fast internet connection
