Location: 5-minute walk from Burton Train Station

Salary: £23,000-£24,000 per year (depending on experience, not pro rata)

Hours: Full-time, 8:30am - 4:00pm, Term Time

We are excited to recruit Teaching Assistants for The Guildhall School, a brand-new, purpose-built special school opening in April 2026. This innovative P/MLD school will provide education for up to 40 pupils aged 7-18 with Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties (P/MLD), all of whom require 1:1 support. As a Teaching Assistant, you will play a vital role in helping our students thrive academically, emotionally, and socially. You will work closely with teachers and therapists to deliver tailored lessons, interventions, and support, helping students develop communication, independence, sensory learning, life skills, and functional literacy and numeracy. This role is ideal for individuals who are flexible, resilient, and passionate about making a meaningful difference in the lives of young people with complex needs.

Responsibilities

  • Provide 1:1 and small group support for pupils with P/MLD
  • Deliver lessons and interventions adapted to individual needs
  • Support emotional and behavioural regulation in a nurturing environment
  • Assist in implementing personalised learning pathways, including EQUALS, ASDAN, Oak Academy, and AQA frameworks
  • Collaborate with teachers, therapists, and support staff to maximise student progress
  • Promote independence, confidence, and life skills in a safe, positive setting

  • Experience working with children or young people with complex learning needs or emotional and behavioural difficulties
  • Patient, compassionate, and adaptable
  • Ability to work flexibly within a supportive team
  • Enthusiasm for improving outcomes and creating opportunities for young people to flourish

All staff receive comprehensive induction and ongoing training, including trauma-informed practice, and work alongside dedicated therapists to deliver personalised support.
