Conveniently located just a five-minute walk from Burton train station, the school will support pupils aged 7-18 with Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties (PMLD). This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a founding team, helping to shape the vision, culture and success of a new specialist provision from day one.
The Guild Hall School will provide high-quality, individualised education and care for up to 40 pupils, all supported on a 1:1 basis. Our bespoke curriculum will be designed around each learner's unique needs, with a strong focus on:
- Communication and interaction
- Sensory learning
- Independence and life skills
- Functional literacy and numeracy
We will draw on a range of recognised frameworks, including EQUALS, ASDAN, Oak Academy and AQA, to ensure meaningful and engaging learning experiences for every pupil.
As a SEND Teacher, you will play a central role in delivering outstanding teaching and shaping a nurturing, inclusive learning environment. Working closely with the Headteacher and wider multidisciplinary team, your responsibilities will include:
- Delivering high-quality, personalised teaching using multi-sensory and adaptive approaches
- Teaching a broad and flexible curriculum, including core subjects, life skills and social-emotional development
- Using creative, blended learning approaches to meet a wide range of complex needs
- Embedding trauma-informed practice and Bayleaf Care's PACE therapeutic model across the school
- Working collaboratively with residential and therapeutic teams to ensure consistency and continuity of care and education
- Supporting high standards of learning, progress and wellbeing for all pupils
We are looking for an experienced, compassionate and inspirational SEND Teacher who is passionate about supporting pupils with PMLD and complex needs. Essential requirements include:
- Proven experience working in a PMLD or complex SEND setting
- A strong understanding of safeguarding and pupil welfare
- A commitment to inclusive, child-centred education
Bayleaf Care provides outstanding care and education for children and young people who have experienced trauma or have additional learning needs. Our work is underpinned by the PACE model (Playfulness, Acceptance, Curiosity and Empathy), ensuring every young person feels safe, valued and understood. Our growing organisation includes:
- 5 children's homes
- 2 education hubs (Postern and Doveside)
- An SEMH school opening April 2026 (The Manor School)
- 2 leaving care services opening in 2026
- 3 CQC-registered adult transition homes opening in 2026
This integrated approach provides stability and continuity through education, care and into adulthood.
If you are passionate about SEND education and would like to help build something truly special from the ground up, we would love to hear from you.
