Rolls-Royce Motor Cars is based in Goodwood (near Chichester). The Goodwood manufacturing plant sits in the heart of the West Sussex countryside. As an apprentice, you will gain practical insights into the corporate operations of a world-class automotive manufacturer while developing yourself and your career. Our department produces interior surface components using a variety of materials and finishes. Throughout the process, we combine craftsmanship with technology to exacting standards. It is our attention to detail that produces world-class interiors. By providing our apprentices with a sense of responsibility from the outset, they quickly become acclimatised to the production environment and develop skills that will last a lifetime. There are multiple vacancies available for this role commencing end of August 2026.
Qualifications and Experience
- A minimum of 5 GCSEs (or equivalent) at grade 5 (or above) including Maths and English.
- NVQ or BTEC in Engineering or Manufacturing would be an advantage.
- Any knowledge in Wood Manufacture or similar would be an advantage, however not a requirement.
- You need to be able to work independently and within a team.
- You will be required to work using your own initiative.
- The ability to listen and absorb information is essential.
When it comes to selecting the right apprentices, it’s as much about attitude and behaviours as it is about vocational and academic success. That’s why in addition to the qualifications we require from you, we’ll also look for you to have a range of skills, attributes, and behaviours. These include team working, the ability to work without close supervision, quality focus, good communication skills, enthusiasm, initiative, and the ability to take on responsibility and show accountability for your work.
Who are we looking for?
A large amount of the role will entail individual (but supervised work), which contributes to that of the team. Useful skills and qualities are as follows:
- Self-starter – able to use own initiative.
- Reliable.
- Basic IT skills.
- Communication.
- Interest in making things e.g. crochet, woodwork, crafts.
You will learn all you need to do this role at college and in the workplace. For this reason, you do not need a qualification or experience to apply. An interest in the profession or making things is strongly advised.
Required Qualifications
- English and Maths GCSE at grade 4 is required but not essential.
- It is advised that this is attained prior to starting the apprenticeship but can be completed alongside work and study in the form of ‘functional skills’.
