Overview
The position is working at our BayernLB Head Office in Munich or in our Branch in London, where you will be part of the team Financing Progress. In our sector Aviation & Space we focus on shaping and promoting the future of Aviation Finance to meet our ambitious growth plans. Acquiring and implementing Aviation Finance mandates in the field of structured aircraft finance for airlines and leasing companies. You will be based in London with the opportunity for collaboration at our Munich Head Office. We offer flexible working arrangements and a focus on your professional development.
Your mission
- Responsible for independently leading the origination, structuring and completion of aircraft financings including finance- and operating leases for aircraft & engines on a full and limited recourse base as well as for PDPs and warehouse/ portfolio financings.
- Leading transaction-individual internal deal-teams, consisting of designated internal specialists.
- Marketing to customers, target customers including airlines and lessors and banks with the objective of business generation.
- This includes the development of new customer groups as well as the ongoing development of existing customers.
- Representation of BayernLB at conferences and similar industry events.
- Analysis of new transactions to assess viability, preparing risk analysis for Risk Office in line with Credit Process including the modelling of the transactions in an excel based portfolio model.
- Reviewing credit applications and ratings prepared by Risk Office requiring specific analytical knowledge.
- Ensuring fulfillment of all required processes associated with deal origination and execution.
- Onboarding customers and transactions in close cooperation to all relevant interfaces within London and/or Munich Head Office, therefore profound language skills in German are essential.
- Structuring of transactions, to include independently leading the negotiation of term sheets and the review and negotiation of all relevant transaction documentation, whilst liaising internally and externally as necessary.
- Originating Cross Sell opportunities and then liaising with the appropriate product desks e.g. in Financial Markets regarding the funding and hedging of transactions.
- Assisting the Syndications Department as necessary with the sale of loan assets and the drafting of information memoranda.
- Assisting Risk Office in the management of existing loan exposures.
- Carrying out research, writing reports and maintaining files, statistics etc. on sectors, potential transactions, customers and prospective customers.
- Undertaking special projects, including assisting as necessary in the preparation of the annual Aviation & Space sector budget and development of business strategy.
- Identification of suitable new products and active contribution to their development and implementation.
- Contributing to aviation industry sector reports and anticipating market developments.
- Developing innovative solutions to changing needs of key accounts.
- Substantially contributing to aviation sector financial results by implementing origination strategy.
- Establish and deepen relationships to relevant market players, inter alia such as major airlines, aircraft leasing companies, OEMs, insurers, appraisers, law firms and arrangers.
Your Skills
- A completed university degree in Business, Economics, Finance, or a related discipline is required - ideally, your academic background is complemented by additional professional qualifications or certifications.
- You must have origination and structuring experience and excellent negotiation skills gained in the International Aviation Finance market.
- At least 5 years of professional experience as a Specialist or Senior Specialist in the banking/lending or leasing business in the area of Structured Asset Finance/Aircraft Finance.
- You must show a network of key decision makers in the aviation industry: i.e. lessors, airlines, banks & relevant institutional investors and asset managers/arrangers.
- In depth knowledge of the International Banking business and aviation sector knowledge required.
- Ability to understand and assess financial models; good knowledge of contractual documentation and credit risk.
- Must be proficient in English (written and spoken); another language would also be preferable.
- Comprehensive experience with model calculations (cash flow models, business plans).
- Deadline driven workflows – must be able to work under tight deadlines.
- Willingness and ability to work collaboratively within a deal team and to travel frequently.
