Job Summary:
The Manager of Total Rewards will oversee the organization’s retirement plans, rewards, and recognition programs and plays a key role in supporting the organization’s overall benefits administration. This role is specifically responsible for the strategic oversight and administration of the organization’s tax-advantaged retirement plans, including 403(b) and 457(b) plans. This role ensures that plans are compliant, competitive, well-communicated, and aligned with the organization’s total rewards philosophy and employee financial wellness objectives. This role also ensures that employee recognition programs are competitive, engaging, cost-effective, and aligned with business objectives and employee engagement goals. This role will provide ongoing general benefits administration support to the Director of Benefits and Wellness.
This is an exempt position.
Key Responsibilities:
Retirement Plans
- Oversee the administration and compliance of all retirement plans (e.g., 403(b), 457(b))
- Evaluate plan design and recommend enhancements to meet the organization’s retention and engagement goals while maintaining legal compliance and cost effectiveness.
- Analyze participation trends, deferral rates, investment behavior, and retirement readiness metrics to inform plan strategy.
- Manage relationships with plan vendors, recordkeepers, investment advisors, and third-party administrators (TPAs), ensuring service quality and operational efficiency.
- Ensure compliance with ERISA, IRS, DOL, and other regulatory requirements.
- Educate employees on retirement plan benefits and conduct periodic plan reviews.
Rewards & Recognition
- Develop and implement programs that recognize and reward employee performance and service milestones.
- Monitor program effectiveness and recommend enhancements to improve engagement and retention.
- Manage budget and vendor relationships for recognition platforms and events. Support Administration of the Organization’s Benefits Programs
- Participate in the administration of various employee benefits programs including group health, flexible spending accounts, health reimbursement accounts, dental, vision, accident, disability and life insurance.
- Maintain employee benefit records in HRIS ensuring benefits changes and enrollments are entered appropriately for vendor data transfers and payroll deduction.
- Conduct employee orientation on a weekly basis including preparing materials in advance of orientation.
- In collaboration with the Director of Benefits and Wellness, plan and execute impactful wellness initiatives throughout the year.
- Regularly answer employee benefits questions.
- Back-up the process to Verify and reconcile all monthly group insurance plans and premium invoices and submit for payment approval.
- Support annual open enrollment project on benefits enrollment and eligibility platform, including extensive quality and accuracy testing; work with vendor, Benefits, Payroll and IT.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Finance, or a related field (Master’s or relevant certification preferred: CCP, CEBS, SHRM, etc.).
- 6–8 years of progressive experience in HR, with specific expertise in retirement benefits and other benefits administration
- Proficient in data analysis, Excel (and other Office products), and HRIS systems, specifically experience with Dayforce/Ceridian a plus
- Experience with vendor management a plus
- Excellent communication, project management, and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Highly organized, detail oriented, and ability to multi task
- Ability to manage multiple projects with competing priorities and deadlines
- Ability to identify, recommend, and implement process improvements
