Greenmeadow Community Farm is preparing to open its gates in August 2025, and we\βre looking for a talented, motivated, and experienced Zero Hour Sous Chef to support the Head Chef in leading our weddings and events catering operation.

Job Description
Key Responsibilities β Sous Chef
As Sous Chef, you\βll play a vital role in launching and supporting the leadership of a vibrant, multi-outlet kitchen operation at one of the region\βs most exciting new destinations. Your responsibilities will include:
- Supporting the Head Chef in delivering the culinary vision across the Farmshop, Caf Restaurant, Barista Coffee Bar, Playbarn Caf , Concessions, and Events & Hospitality spaces
- Supervising and mentoring kitchen staff, ensuring high standards of food quality, safety, and hygiene are maintained at all times
- Managing daily kitchen operations, including food prep, stock rotation, allergen control, and assisting with supplier coordination
- Working closely with front-of-house and events teams to ensure smooth service for school visits, weddings, seasonal events, and private functions
- Maintaining consistency and efficiency across a logistically varied site, ensuring timely and high-quality food delivery
- Upholding food safety and hygiene standards, including compliance with HACCP procedures
- Contributing to menu development, bringing creativity and seasonal inspiration to the table
- Driving continuous improvement, offering ideas and feedback to enhance the food offering and kitchen operations
Qualifications
What We\βre Looking For:
- Proven experience as a Sous Chef or Senior Chef de Partie in a high-volume, quality-focused environment
- A strong background in wedding and event catering-you know how to deliver under pressure and support seamless execution
- A track record of supporting, training, and motivating kitchen teams to maintain consistently high standards
- Financial awareness, with experience in food cost control, GP targets, stock management, and supplier coordination
- Excellent coaching and delegation skills-you lead by example and support the Head Chef in developing the team
- Highly organised, detail-oriented, and calm under pressure, especially during peak service
- An empathetic and effective communicator with a collaborative, solution-focused mindset
- Strong menu execution, planning, and problem-solving abilities
- Able to work weekends and evenings as required by the operation
