Job Description:
Baxterstorey is seeking a reliable and enthusiastic General Assistant/vending operative, to join our team in Wakefield. In this role, you will provide essential support to our catering and hospitality operations, ensuring smooth day-to-day service delivery. The successful candidate will be organised, efficient, and committed to maintaining the highest standards of customer service and food safety.
- Assist with food preparation, plating, and presentation in accordance with company standards and health and safety regulations
- Support the kitchen and service teams during busy periods, demonstrating flexibility and a proactive approach
- Maintain cleanliness and organisation of work areas, including washing up, stock rotation, and general tidying
- Assist with serving customers in a friendly and professional manner, taking orders and addressing queries
- Handle basic cash transactions and till operations with accuracy and integrity
- Support inventory management by checking stock levels and assisting with deliveries
- Comply with all food hygiene and health and safety procedures at all times
- Communicate effectively with team members to ensure seamless service delivery
- Undertake additional duties as required to support the smooth running of operations
- Driving round site filling vending machines with stock
- Cleaning of the machines round site
- Taking stock to each area counting what has been taken and used in each area
Qualifications:
- Proven experience in a hospitality, catering, or food service environment (desirable)
- Knowledge of food hygiene and safety practices, or willingness to obtain relevant certification
- Strong people skills and ability to work collaboratively within a team
- Excellent time keeping and reliability
- Physical stamina to work on your feet for extended periods
- Attention to detail and commitment to maintaining high standards
- Basic numeracy skills for handling cash and stock management
- Flexibility to work varied shift patterns, including weekends and bank holidays
- Ability to communicate clearly and professionally with colleagues and customers
- Willingness to learn and develop within a fast-paced environment
