The Front of House Assistant is responsible for delivering high-quality customer service in a contract catering environment. This includes serving food and beverages, maintaining cleanliness, and ensuring a welcoming dining experience for clients and guests.
Responsibilities
- Provide excellent customer service at all times
- Serve food and beverages efficiently and professionally
- Operate tills
- Set up and clear dining areas, including tables and service stations
- Maintain high standards of cleanliness and hygiene
- Assist with food preparation and presentation as required
- Replenish stock, condiments, and service items
- Follow all health & safety and food hygiene regulations
- Support the catering team during busy periods and events
- Handle customer queries and complaints in a polite and helpful manner
- Service vending machines to ensure they are clean, fully stocked, and operating efficiently
- Refill and restock vending machines with food, drinks, and other products
- Collect cash and/or manage cashless payment systems
- Clean and maintain vending machines to a high standard
- Check product dates and rotate stock to ensure freshness
- Monitor stock levels and report shortages
- Perform basic maintenance and troubleshoot minor faults
- Report technical issues or breakdowns to the maintenance team
- Keep accurate records of stock, sales, and collections
- Ensure compliance with health & safety and food hygiene standards
- Deliver excellent customer service when interacting with clients on-site
Qualifications
- Previous experience in hospitality, catering, or customer service preferred
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work in a fast‑paced environment
