We have an exciting opportunity for a Social Media Specialist to join the UAL Catering team based within the vibrant and creative environment of the University of the Arts London. This is a hands-on and varied role, ideal for someone looking to develop a career in digital marketing and social media within the hospitality and food industry. The role will primarily focus on managing and growing our Instagram account @ualcatering, while supporting the delivery of wider digital and lightweight offline campaigns across multiple catering sites, including cafés and canteens.
Reporting to the Marketing Manager, the successful candidate will help drive brand awareness, engagement, and sales through creative, evidence-led campaigns aligned with the UAL brand and tone of voice. This role requires a highly organised and proactive individual who enjoys building relationships and working closely with chefs, baristas, site managers, students, and external partners. The successful candidate will be confident managing multiple projects across different locations, planning campaigns in advance, and ensuring activity is delivered effectively, especially during busy academic periods. The ideal candidate would start w/c 3 August 2026.
Main Responsibilities- Develop and execute digital campaigns to drive awareness, engagement, and sales.
- Plan, create, schedule, and publish engaging content for @ualcatering, including copy, graphics, photography, reels, and short-form video content.
- Build strong relationships with chefs, baristas, and site teams to ensure campaigns reflect the culture and activity of each site.
- Coordinate marketing activity across multiple catering locations while maintaining consistency in tone, branding, and messaging.
- Analyse campaign and social media performance, using insights and data to improve future activity and support evidence-based decision making.
- Research collaboration opportunities with student communities, societies, and external partners to increase engagement and awareness.
- Stay up to date with social media trends, platform updates, and best practices.
- Monitor social media channels and respond to comments and messages professionally and in a timely manner.
- Attend regular meetings, site visits, and follow-ups with teams and stakeholders, reporting progress to the Marketing Manager.
- Passionate about food, hospitality, and social media.
- At least 1 year of experience in a social media or marketing role is preferable.
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills with a collaborative approach.
- Flexible, hands-on, and solutions-focused with a positive can-do attitude.
- Good understanding of social media platforms, digital marketing, trends, analytics, and audience engagement.
- Experience using Adobe Creative Suite, Canva, CapCut, and other editing tools.
- Organised, proactive, and comfortable managing multiple projects and deadlines across different sites.
- Able to work independently, take ownership of tasks, and deliver at pace.
- Creative eye for content creation, copywriting, and digital storytelling.
- Strong attention to detail and willingness to take initiative and go the extra mile when needed.
- Ideally educated to degree level in marketing, digital media, or a related discipline.
