Overview

Head Chef – Hospitality role at BaxterStorey, based in London. Lead our Hospitality & Events Culinary team for a leading global investment bank in Central London. The ideal candidate will have a real passion for the Hospitality and Food industry, be collaborative, and take pride in their work every day. The Head Chef is responsible for the core of our Hospitality & Events kitchens, from menu writing and planning to mentoring and supporting the team through service. Innovation is encouraged through seasonal menus and diverse cuisines and flavours.

Our Hospitality & Event Kitchens manage fine dining for a busy, fast-paced environment, overseeing fine dining in 29 private dining rooms and an events space that can cater up to 1700 guests. We maintain full autonomy over seasonal brochures, from breakfast to a la carte lunch to canapes, offering the opportunity to bring your own flair to our dishes and make the offering your own. We are a leading business in the catering industry, known for our innovative and obsessed approach, exceptional service, and authentic, delicious culinary offerings, delivering memorable workplace dining experiences.

Base pay range
Up to £55,000 per year. This range is provided by BaxterStorey. Your actual pay will be based on your skills and experience — talk with your recruiter to learn more.

Responsibilities

  • Take full responsibility and ownership for the smooth and efficient running of Hospitality & Events Kitchens, overseeing the full offering from breakfast to a la carte lunch to canapes.
  • Plan, prepare, cook and present seasonally changing menus to the standards required by the company and our client.
  • Manage, mentor and motivate a brigade of around 13 chefs, from Senior Sous Chef to Kitchen Porter.
  • Lead the safe supervision of all food production, preparation, cooking and presentation, ensuring consistent food quality.
  • Collaborate with the Group Culinary Lead to drive food innovation and concept development, marketing and implementation across Hospitality & Events, alongside the Retail kitchen.
  • Ensure food production standards and costs are managed proactively to be efficient and economical without compromising quality and taste.
  • Provide prompt and efficient client service, oversee all food tastings, presentations and samplings, and guide the kitchen team on new menu implementations.
  • Maintain and enhance the company’s reputation for excellent food and service with clients and customers.
  • Hold regular 1-1s and appraisals, provide constructive feedback, and monitor development and succession planning.
  • Take responsibility for Health & Safety within the Kitchen, ensuring audits are passed and any shortfalls addressed.
  • Ensure due diligence records are completed accurately and on time, and that locations meet statutory and company Health & Safety, Food Safety and environmental requirements.

Qualifications

  • Previous experience as a Head Chef in Events, Hotels or high-end restaurants.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • NVQ qualification or equivalent.
  • Strong knowledge of allergy management.
  • Food Safety and Hygiene certification.
  • Driven to deliver the highest quality of food.
