We currently have an exciting opportunity for an experienced hospitality team member with a background in exceptional food and barista service to join our business and work at one of our highly prestigious sites. The site serves breakfast, lunch and evening meals. This is a fantastic opportunity for a skilled Team Member to make a name for themselves within the food service industry and be a part of setting the new standard for education catering.
Responsibilities:
- Dishwashing – Wash dishes, utensils, and kitchen equipment either by hand or using industrial dishwashers
- Kitchen Cleanliness – Clean and sanitise kitchen surfaces, countertops, and food preparation areas. Empty rubbish bins and ensure proper disposal of waste materials
- Food Preparation – Assist chefs and cooks with basic food preparation tasks, such as peeling, chopping, and slicing ingredients
- Inventory Management – Assist in receiving, storing, and organising kitchen supplies and ingredients
- Prepare and serve a wide range of coffee beverages, including espresso, cappuccinos, lattes, and macchiatos, according to established recipes and standards
- Grind coffee beans, tamp the grounds, and operate espresso machines to extract quality shots of espresso
- Compliance with Health and Safety – Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the kitchen ensuring equipment is in good working order
- Goods in and out and storeroom ownership
- Provide exceptional customer service by greeting customers, taking orders, and answering questions about coffee, ingredients, and menu items
- Recommend and upsell additional products, such as pastries or specialty coffee blends, to enhance the customer experience
- Maintain a clean and organised work area, including brewing equipment, countertops, and display cases
- Restock supplies and ensure that inventory levels are sufficient for daily operations
- Follow health and safety guidelines and maintain proper food handling and sanitation standards
- Operate till register/card machine accurately for transactions
- Provide friendly and professional customer service to clients and guests, ensuring their needs are met and their expectations are exceeded
- Help with the preparation, presentation, and service of food and beverages during meetings/events, ensuring high-quality standards are maintained
- Work closely with the catering team to coordinate meeting/event logistics, ensuring all aspects of the catering service are executed smoothly and efficiently
- Maintain cleanliness and hygiene standards in the food preparation and service areas, adhering to health and safety regulations
- Assist with inventory control, including monitoring stock levels, replenishing supplies, and reporting any discrepancies or shortages
- Collaborate effectively with the catering team, kitchen staff, and other departments to ensure seamless coordination and delivery of services
- Assist with post-meeting/event cleanup tasks, including the removal of waste, packing equipment, and returning the venue to its original state
- Greet customers warmly and create a welcoming atmosphere
- Clean and sanitise tables, counters, and service areas regularly
- Ensure the café’s cleanliness and tidiness by sweeping, mopping, and taking out rubbish
- Work closely with the kitchen staff to ensure timely and accurate food delivery
Qualifications:
- Ideally have experience working within contract catering
- Have good Health & Safety knowledge
