Greenmeadow Community Farm has now been open for 8 months, and we’re looking for a talented and driven Sous Chef to support the Head Chef in continuing to develop and strengthen our busy, multi-outlet catering operation. This is a fantastic opportunity to join a growing team and play a key role in refining and elevating an already successful food offering within a vibrant, family-focused destination.

You’ll help deliver a diverse, high-volume food operation across multiple outlets, including events & hospitality (weddings, schools, seasonal events).
Key Responsibilities – Sous Chef
- Supporting the Head Chef in delivering the culinary vision across the Farmshop, Café Restaurant, Barista Coffee Bar, Playbarn Café, Concessions, and Events & Hospitality spaces.
- Supervising and mentoring kitchen staff, ensuring high standards of food quality, safety, and hygiene are maintained at all times.
- Managing daily kitchen operations, including food prep, stock rotation, allergen control, and assisting with supplier coordination.
- Working closely with front‑of‑house and events teams to ensure smooth service for school visits, weddings, seasonal events, and private functions.
- Maintaining consistency and efficiency across a logistically varied site, ensuring timely and high‑quality food delivery.
- Upholding food safety and hygiene standards, including compliance with HACCP procedures.
- Contributing to menu development, bringing creativity and seasonal inspiration to the table.
- Driving continuous improvement, offering ideas and feedback to enhance the food offering and kitchen operations.
Qualifications
- Proven experience as a Sous Chef or Senior Chef de Partie in a high‑volume, quality‑focused environment.
- A strong background in wedding and event catering – you know how to deliver under pressure and support seamless execution.
- A track record of supporting, training, and motivating kitchen teams to maintain consistently high standards.
- Financial awareness, with experience in food cost control, GP targets, stock management, and supplier coordination.
- Excellent coaching and delegation skills – you lead by example and support the Head Chef in developing the team.
- Highly organised, detail‑oriented, and calm under pressure, especially during peak service.
- An empathetic and effective communicator with a collaborative, solution‑focused mindset.
- Strong menu execution, planning, and problem‑solving abilities.
- Able to work 5 out of 7 days, including weekends and evenings as required by the operation.
