As a Sr. Manager, EMEA Global Trade and Customs, based in our Reading office, you will work onsite 3 days per week. This role oversees all regional Global Trade activities, including import, export, duty savings, and trade programs. You will develop and implement controls to ensure compliance with Customs laws, minimize penalties, increase duty reduction opportunities, and support global trade activities across Baxter entities. You will define strategic planning opportunities, maintain a strong Global Trade team, build relationships with facilities and country personnel, and support continuous improvement projects to standardize processes, systems, and standards, while staying updated on legislative and regulatory changes.
What you’ll be doing:
- Recruit, manage, and develop the Regional Global Trade team, including succession planning.
- Oversee changes in Customs laws and regulations, communicating relevant updates to affected teams.
- Lead the deployment of standard global trade processes and supervise software implementation.
- Develop and deliver import/export training programs.
- Implement strategic cost-saving initiatives like trade zones, duty drawback, and free trade agreements.
- Represent Baxter in dealings with government agencies and manage Customs audits.
- Collaborate with local operations to integrate trade activities seamlessly.
- Utilize Baxter Operating System (lean/six sigma) to improve efficiency and reduce waste.
What you’ll bring:
- Bachelor’s Degree (preferred).
- At least 7 years of international trade compliance experience, with knowledge of trade principles and regulations.
- Understanding of import/export operations, trade compliance, and supply chain logistics.
- Self-motivated with minimal supervision, with strong leadership and interpersonal skills.
- Experience working with global teams in a matrix environment.
- U.S. Customs Brokers license or similar certification is highly preferred; healthcare or regulated industry experience is a plus.
- Experience with Customs, FDA/MOH, and other agencies.
