A specialist engineering company is seeking a Product Support Engineer to join its Design Engineering department. This role plays a key part in supporting the current product range, leading continuous improvement activities, and designing and maintaining test equipment. The position requires close collaboration across departments to ensure product performance and reliability.

Key Responsibilities

  • Act as the primary contact for internal product technical queries.
  • Investigate and resolve product issues using structured problem-solving techniques such as 8D.
  • Implement improvements to power supply designs based on continuous improvement feedback.
  • Modify and enhance existing power supply designs to meet customer requirements.
  • Design and build test equipment.
  • Maintain and update documentation related to design and testing.
  • Update circuit schematics and PCB layouts using relevant software tools.
  • Support component selection and address obsolescence challenges.
  • Provide technical support for customer applications.

Skills & Experience Required

  • HNC/HND in Electronic & Electrical Engineering or a related discipline.
  • Strong understanding of fault-finding techniques.
  • Knowledge of analogue and digital electronics.
  • Experience with high voltage power supplies is advantageous.
  • Self-motivated and capable of working both independently and within a team.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and a methodical approach to technical challenges.
  • Ability to communicate technical information effectively to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Willingness to undertake cross-training as required.
  • Strong PC literacy, including the use of data analysis tools.
  • Ability to liaise with employees at all levels within the company.
  • Proactive mindset with the ability to anticipate problems and propose solutions.
