Baxter & Woodman has a rewarding opportunity for a Construction Technician in our Bannockburn, IL, office. The Technician will support the firm’s construction group on a variety of projects ranging from roadways to underground utility installations. Additionally, this position will assist with the planning, design, and construction of a variety of facilities. This position will also offer the opportunity to work directly with firm clients.
What your day‑to‑day will look like:
- Quantity Computation.
- Construction Layout/Survey.
- Observe, measure and document construction activities.
- Produce and edit engineering plans using AutoCAD and/or MicroStation.
- Prepare CAD plan sheet drawings.
- Assist project engineers and managers with a wide variety of tasks required during project delivery.
- General civil engineering and client service.
Education Requirement:
Associate's degree in Structural/Architecture and/or Construction Management Technology desired or related field experience.
Must-haves:
- 2+ years of experience working as a Construction Inspector or Technician on construction projects.
- Effective communication, both oral and written, with residents, businesses and public agencies.
- Ability to travel throughout the northern Chicagoland area (own transportation).
- Work in a team environment.
- Strong written, verbal, computer, and organizational skills.
Compensation:
The pay range for this role is $28.00 - $40.00 per hour. Actual compensation packages are based on several factors that are unique to each candidate, including but not limited to skill set, depth of experience, and certifications.
