About Baukjen:
Baukjen is a London-based womenswear brand dedicated to creating timeless, high-quality fashion with a conscience. As a certified B Corp, sustainability and ethics are at the heart of everything we do. Our collections are designed for the modern woman seeking effortless style without compromising on values.
We are now expanding our range further into accessories and looking for a Freelance Bag Designer with a background in luxury or premium bag design to lead the development of our first capsule collection.

Role Overview:
In this role, you will design a considered capsule range of leather bags that complement Baukjen’s ready-to-wear collections. You’ll bring experience from the luxury or premium market with a refined design sensibility and deep understanding of construction, materials and ethical sourcing.
This is a remote position though you must be available to be hands on in your approach; sourcing materials, trims and attending development meetings in our London office. You will be working closely with the Design Director to curate the range to bring your cool and commercial bag designs to reality.

Key Responsibilities:
- Design a capsule collection of bags aligned with the Baukjen brand aesthetic and values
- Conduct trend, market and material research with a focus on key items and shapes
- Source and propose relevant environmentally responsible materials and trims
- Develop clear and accurate tech packs for sample development
- Liaise with our sourcing and production teams to ensure quality and feasibility
- Collaborate closely with the Design Director to ensure the bags meets the needs and aesthetics of the brand

Requirements:
- Minimum of 5 years of experience designing bags within a luxury or premium fashion environment
- Strong portfolio showcasing bag design work with leather
- Solid understanding of sustainable materials and practices, construction techniques and leather goods factories in Europe
- Experience creating detailed tech packs. Proficiency in Adobe Illustrator and/or Photoshop is a plus
- Excellent communication and time management skills.
