This role is UK‑based, with occasional travel to London and Peterborough (approximately 1–2 times per quarter).

You’ll be joining our dynamic Digital Development team within Bauer Media Audio, where we build the back‑end systems that power mobile, web, and voice‑connected experiences across international markets. As a Senior Back‑End Engineer, you’ll play a pivotal role in shaping the future of Bauer’s digital platforms. You’ll lead the development of client‑agnostic services, mentor junior engineers, and collaborate across teams to deliver secure, resilient, and high‑performing systems. Your work will directly impact millions of users across Europe, helping us deliver seamless audio experiences. This is a senior role where your technical expertise and leadership will be trusted and valued.

You’ll be responsible for leading development efforts, mentoring team members, and ensuring our systems are robust, scalable, and aligned with business goals.

Responsibilities
  • Develop and maintain back‑end services using Go, TypeScript, PHP, and SQL.
  • Lead small feature‑driven sub‑teams and mentor junior engineers.
  • Collaborate with product and technology teams to align development with customer needs.
  • Champion DevOps practices under a “you build it, you run it” model.
  • Participate in incident management rotas and provide technical support.
  • Contribute to recruitment and onboarding of new team members.
  • Ensure high standards of security, performance, and resilience across systems.
