As part of our dedication to ensuring we operate safely, we are keen to grow our team and are now looking to recruit a Health & Safety Advisor to support us in the Northern Region of the UK, for a fixed term period of 9 months.
What will you be doing? You will be providing professional advice and assistance in relation to health, safety and welfare compliance as well as facilitating ongoing improvements. Assisting managers and supervisors in complying with the requirements of health and safety law and corporate occupational health and safety requirements. You will make regular visits to our sites in the North Regions, including St Helens and Scotland, where you will carry out health and safety auditing and inspections of construction sites, premises, plant and machinery and safe systems of work. The role will include plenty of travel with potential of some overnight stays to meet business needs.
Responsibilities
- Proactively assist managers in controlling the day-to-day management of occupational health and safety.
- Follow accident reporting procedures in accordance with RIDDOR and company procedures, including carrying out investigations into work-related accidents, illnesses, dangerous occurrences and near-misses and submitting reports to the Health and Safety Manager.
- Assist in the production and implementation of health and safety policies and procedures, including adapting corporate policies to suit business requirements.
- Participate in Work Place Forums and be responsible for administering relevant Safety Committees, Safety Action Groups and other ad-hoc meetings.
- Prepare and present written reports relating to the responsibilities of the post-holder.
Qualifications
- NEBOSH National General Certificate and ability to translate legislation and standards into practical and succinct health and safety policies and procedures.
- Experience of working within an established risk management system.
- Proficient use of MS Office.
- Ability to build strong working relationships with colleagues.
- Can work under own initiative and seek advice when necessary.
- Displays drive and determination to meet targets.
- Full UK Driving Licence.
