Do you have some experience in simple groundworks and construction? Are you hard working and most comfortable in a manual role, working outdoors? Are you someone who is looking for an opportunity to develop their career with a successful company? We are now recruiting GROUNDWORKERS to join our Bauer Media Outdoor Construction Team.

You’d join a team that builds both digital billboards and bus shelters which includes large mass concrete foundations, hard and soft landscaping and underground ducting works. This role will require travelling to sites nationwide, so lodging and reasonable overnight expenses will be provided along with the use of a company vehicle.

You will be working in a small team installing steel structures and digital advertising screens. Groundwork will include hand and machine excavations for large mass reinforced concrete foundations. An understanding of safe excavation techniques, including surveying for underground apparatus is essential. Experience and qualifications to use appropriate handheld tools, machinery and excavation plant is necessary.

We are looking for someone with competence in reading technical drawings and being able to set out to line and level. You will cast mass concrete and steel foundations and finish the groundworks phase in a variety of surfacing materials ranging from top soiling/soft landscaping or hard landscaping such as slabs/pavers/tarmac or floated concrete.

Other responsibilities:

  • To be able to manage your workloads issued within the agreed timescales.
  • Ensure that a safe site is created and maintained in accordance with the relevant Construction Phase Plan and accompanying RAMS.
  • This can include all forms of site segregation, signing and guarding as necessary.
  • You will be required to work within the framework of H&S Policy and accompanying legislation and codes of practice.
  • Correct use of working at height equipment – Following the site-specific risk assessments and method statements.
  • Maintain and safeguard the tools and equipment on site and ensure that they are stored in a lockable unit at the end of the shift.
  • Report any near misses, accidents or incidents on site to the Construction Manager.
  • Ensure that the site is left in a clear and tidy order to represent the company’s reputation in delivering good practices, quality of work and overall general appearance of BMO.
  • Adhere to the Construction Design and Management regulations 2015.

What are we looking for?

  • Understand the Construction Design and Management regulations 2015.
  • Advantageous to be SSSTS trained.
  • Experience with working at height – Use of step ladders, tower scaffolding and MEMPs – Hold a IPAF card.
  • Use of power tools such as Hydraulic breakers and disc Saws and grinding wheels.
  • To be able to problem solve on issues related to construction, using initiative when making decisions to enable the works to continue.
  • Identification of underground services and competency using CAT scanning.
  • Excavation and Sub-Structure knowledge.
  • NRSWA qualified with Traffic Management knowledge and the following of correct procedures.
  • Competent in the use of machinery.
