London - 2 days a week | Salary for this role is dependant on your experience, you’ll also receive bonus + benefits.
About the Role
You’ll own the technical solution landscape for our Out-of-Home (OOH) product, portfolio, and operational teams – the systems that manage landlord contracts, advertising and non‑advertising assets, and operational processes across Bauer Media Outdoor’s European markets. As the Senior Solutions Architect, you’re the technical authority for this domain. You’ll be in the detail daily, understanding how systems work, designing solutions that solve real problems, and ensuring what gets built meets architectural standards and integrates cleanly with the broader estate. Working with external development partners today (and building toward an in‑house team), you’ll define technical direction, quality assure deliverables, and own the integrity of the solution landscape.
What you’ll be doing
- Own the technical solution design for portfolio and operational systems (target‑state architecture, data models, API specifications, and integration patterns) while translating complex requirements into precise specifications.
- Maintain full visibility of technical debt, drive root‑cause analysis on complex issues, and proactively identify opportunities to standardise, consolidate, or retire systems.
- Define non‑functional requirements and acceptance criteria for external development partners, rigorously reviewing and challenging their technical designs and outputs before release.
- Articulate complex architectural constraints, trade‑offs, and risks to both business and technology stakeholders clearly and without unnecessary jargon.
- Balance delivery pace with architectural coherence, safeguarding data quality, performance, and long‑term maintainability.
- Maintain impeccable technical documentation (architecture diagrams, integration maps, data dictionaries) to seamlessly support our future transition to an in‑house development capability.
What you’ll bring to the team
- Experience in solution architecture, technical design, or senior engineering roles, with a strong background in SaaS platforms and enterprise system integration.
- Deep technical expertise designing API‑driven architectures, cloud platforms (Azure/AWS), SaaS integration patterns, and modern data flows (REST, event‑driven, ETL/ELT).
- Proven experience in a technical oversight capacity – enforcing technical standards, reviewing code/designs, and holding external vendors accountable.
- Ability to define and defend non‑functional requirements, including security protocols, data encryption, performance benchmarks, scalability, and GDPR compliance.
What’s in it for you
- 25 paid holidays including bank holidays
- Company Pension Scheme paid up to 8%
- Healthcare Cash Plan
- Life Insurance and group income protection scheme
- Cycle to work scheme
- Enhanced Maternity & Paternity Cover
We believe in fairness and as an equal opportunities employer we work hard to foster an inclusive environment, a place where you can truly be yourself and be treated fairly. We’re interested in what you can do, not just what you’ve done. Even if you don’t meet every requirement listed, we’d still love to hear from you!
