About Us

Bauer Media Outdoor is a leader in the advertising world, with a strong presence across 12 markets. Our mission is simple: create tech that makes a difference, empower teams, delight customers, and shape the media world of tomorrow. Technology is central to how we operate. We value transparency, accountability, and real business impact. Our ambition is to build a technology function known for reliable, scalable, and user-focused solutions that genuinely enable the business. If you care about building trusted data foundations that drive decision making at scale, this is the place to do it.

The Role

We are hiring a Senior Analytics Engineer to take ownership of our curated, business-ready data layer. This role sits between data engineering and analytics. Your mandate is clear: transform staged data into trusted, well-modelled datasets and semantic layers that directly support decision making across the business. This is not a pipeline-heavy infrastructure role; it is about data modelling, data quality, and analytical usability. You will own the Gold or Service layer and ensure what reaches Power BI is consistent, performant, and genuinely trusted.

What You Will Be Working On

  • Data Modelling and Curation
    • Design, build, and maintain scalable dimensional and analytical data models
    • Define and enforce data grain, keys, and relationships
    • Own slowly changing dimensions, historisation strategies, and conformed dimensions
    • Translate business requirements into clear, well-documented, and high-performing models
    • Create and maintain a stable Gold layer suitable for Power BI and downstream analytics
  • Data Quality and Profiling
    • Profile staged datasets to assess completeness, accuracy, and consistency
    • Define and implement validation rules and data quality checks
    • Partner with upstream engineers to resolve issues at the right layer
    • Act as the gatekeeper for what is considered analytics-ready data
  • Semantic Layer and BI Enablement
    • Build and optimise datasets specifically for Power BI consumption
    • Ensure metrics are clearly defined, consistent, and reusable
    • Reduce duplication and semantic drift across reports
    • Work closely with analysts to ensure models are intuitive and performant
  • Business Partnership

You will work closely with stakeholders across Finance, Commercial, and Operations to:

    • Clarify definitions
    • Validate assumptions
    • Sense check outputs
    • Translate business questions into structured, modelled datasets

You will be the bridge between technical teams and business users.

What We Are Looking For

  • Essential
    • Deep SQL expertise, including complex transformations, window functions, and performance tuning in a cloud environment
    • Proven experience designing analytical or data warehouse models
    • Strong dimensional modelling knowledge such as Kimball approaches, star schemas, and aggregates
    • Experience working with BI tools, ideally Power BI
    • Hands-on ownership of curated data layers used by the business
    • Strong understanding of data quality, profiling, and validation techniques
    • Confident communicator, comfortable engaging senior stakeholders and non-technical users
  • Desirable
    • Experience with Databricks or similar platforms
    • Familiarity with Delta Lake and lakehouse patterns
    • Python for analysis, profiling, or orchestration logic
    • Exposure to Azure data services such as ADF or Azure SQL

We care far more about your ability to design and own high-quality analytical models than about specific cloud tooling.

What Success Looks Like

Within your first 6 to 12 months, you will have:

  • Delivered clear and trusted Gold layer models adopted across multiple domains
  • Reduced confusion and duplication of metrics in Power BI
  • Improved time to insight for analysts and stakeholders
  • Increased confidence in data correctness across the business
  • Shifted the culture from “we have the data” to “we trust and use the data”

Interview Process

  • Recruiter screening call
  • Technical interview including live task
  • Second stage face-to-face presentation

What’s In It For You?

Out-of-home Advertising is a well-established medium undergoing a digital revolution, and one we believe we are uniquely positioned to capture. You will be at the forefront of this journey, working with your peers to lead the way. As part of this, you will get to grow and learn by working with the latest tech, joining with innovative partners, and working with great colleagues on a day-to-day basis. The package will also include:

  • Hybrid working model with regular office presence to build team culture and relationships
  • 25 paid holidays
  • Company Pension Scheme paid up to 8%
  • Healthcare Cash Plan
  • Life Insurance and group income protection scheme
  • Cycle to work scheme
