As part of our dedication to ensuring we operate safely we are keen to grow our team and are now looking to recruit a Health & Safety Advisor to support us in the Northern Region of the UK, for a fixed term period of 9 months.
What will you be doing?
You will be providing professional advice and assistance in relation to health, safety and welfare compliance as well as facilitating on-going improvements. Assisting managers and supervisors in complying with the requirements of health and safety law and corporate occupational health and safety requirements. You will make regular visits to our sites in the North Regions, including St Helens and Scotland, where you will carry out health and safety auditing and inspections of construction sites, premises, plant and machinery and safe systems of work. The role will include plenty of travel with potential of some overnight stays to meet business needs.
Other key responsibilities include:
- Proactively assist managers in controlling the day-to-day management of occupational health and safety.
- Follow accident reporting procedures in accordance with RIDDOR and company procedures, including carrying out investigations into work-related accidents, illnesses, dangerous occurrences and near-misses and submitting reports to the Health and Safety Manager.
- Assist in the production and implementation of health and safety policies and procedures including the adaptation of corporate policies to suit business requirements.
- Participate in Work Place Forums and be responsible for administering relevant Safety Committees, Safety Action Groups and other ad-hoc meetings.
- To prepare and present written reports relating to the responsibilities of the post-holder.
What skills and experience do I need for this role?
- You must hold a NEBOSH National General Certificate with ability to translate legislation and standards into practical and succinct health & safety policies and procedures.
- Experience of working within an established risk management system.
- Proficient in the use of MS Office.
- The ability to build strong working relationships with colleagues.
- Able to work under own initiative and to seek advice when necessary.
- Display the drive and determination to meet targets.
- Full UK Driving Licence.
