We are keen to grow our team and are now looking to recruit a Health & Safety Advisor to join our team and support us in the Southern Region of the UK.
What will you be doing?
You will provide professional advice and assistance in relation to health, safety and welfare compliance as well as facilitate on‑going improvements. You will assist managers and supervisors in complying with the requirements of health and safety law and corporate occupational health and safety requirements. You will make regular visits to our sites in the South Regions, including Bristol, Dartford, Petersfield/Portsmouth, where you will carry out health and safety audits and inspections of construction sites, premises, plant and machinery and safe systems of work. The role includes plenty of travel with potential overnight stays to meet business needs. This is a hybrid role with 2 days at home and 3 days in a depot; proximity to a depot is vital.
Other key responsibilities include:
- Proactively assist managers in controlling the day‑to‑day management of occupational health and safety.
- Follow accident reporting procedures in accordance with RIDDOR and company procedures, including carrying out investigations into work‑related accidents, illnesses, dangerous occurrences and near‑misses and submitting reports to the Health and Safety Manager.
- Assist in the production and implementation of health and safety policies and procedures, including adapting corporate policies to suit business requirements.
- Participate in Workplace Forums and be responsible for administering relevant Safety Committees, Safety Action Groups and other ad‑hoc meetings.
- Prepare and present written reports relating to the responsibilities of the post‑holder.
What skills and experience do I need for this role?
- You must hold a NEBOSH National General Certificate with the ability to translate legislation and standards into practical and succinct health & safety policies and procedures.
- Experience of working within an established risk management system.
- Proficient in the use of MS Office.
- The ability to build strong working relationships with colleagues.
- Be able to work under own initiative and seek advice when necessary.
- Display the drive and determination to meet targets.
- Full UK Driving Licence.
