We're looking for a talented Mechanical Engineer to join our forward-thinking and dynamic European Product Development team in London (Euston). The team is responsible for delivering a centrally developed and centrally sourced, sustainable Street Furniture, Display, and Smart product portfolio, while assisting countries with product and tender strategy.

About The Role
You will be involved in a range of activities, from supporting key tenders and client presentations to supplier meetings, product customisations, creating new features, and reducing the carbon footprint of existing products. The role requires a high level of creative thinking and problem solving, in addition to a strong blend of mechanical engineering, technology, and product development knowledge. You will collaborate effectively, building robust and influential relationships with key internal and external partners and stakeholders while working seamlessly with local Engineering, Procurement, Operations, and Business Development teams, as well as European teams. The role also requires occasional visits to our construction sites across the UK, travel to our Sawtry depot for test designs, and monthly visits to suppliers in Europe and Bauer Media Outdoor EU locations to provide in-person support.

What You’ll Be Doing
- Mechanical engineering: concept creation, design feasibility, 3D development, detailed design, value engineering, design optimisation, FEA simulation to ensure design performs according to expectation; utilise CAD/CAM/CAE driven processes to create eBOMs/drawings.
- Optimise installation and in‑life operation and maintenance processes.
- Continuously seek to minimise cradle‑to‑gate embodied carbon and in‑life energy use, integrating low‑carbon materials wherever possible.
- Support prototyping, FAT & post‑manufacturing as required including test installs, UAT and first on‑street installations; create/review/maintain appropriate documentation in collaboration with internal teams, e.g. Test Reports/EDR with Operations, Supply Chain.
- Ensure all products are appropriately tested and meet all relevant local and international standards, regulations, guidelines with 3rd‑party structural analyses.
- Create and manage all product data (3Ds, drawings, BOMs, manuals, specifications, structural reports, data sheets) according to the Product Design Guidelines.
- Help to find, research, develop and evaluate new solutions and products.
What We’re Looking For
- Degree in Mechanical Engineering or similar, covering structural, mechanics, materials, design, civil.
- 2‑5 years’ experience in mechanical engineering, product design, evaluation or specification.
- Excellent knowledge of mechanical engineering, construction materials, design techniques including eco‑design, innovative approaches within construction and manufacturing.
- Excellent knowledge and experience of PTC CREO CAD software and CAD management techniques.
- Understands importance of decarbonising and reflects this in their design approach.
- Experience with low‑carbon materials, engineered timber systems, bio‑based or natural fibre composite materials, low‑carbon concrete, upcycled materials.
- Familiar with EPD and carbon footprint data.
- Understanding of applicable regulations and standards.
- Interest in new technologies, manufacturing processes, materials and innovation, in particular how it can apply to product design.
- Excellent organisational skills.
- Excellent knowledge of MS Office tools for the generation of collateral materials.
- Good understanding of project management methodology.
- Experience working with Windchill.
