About The Role
We are looking for a Lead Business Analyst to drive structured business discovery across our data and analytics initiatives. This role sits within our BI and Data function and works closely with Data Engineering teams, Engineering Managers, and business stakeholders across multiple domains. The focus is not simply gathering requirements; it is about improving how the organisation understands problems, defines data needs, and turns business questions into high‑quality analytical outcomes.

What You’ll Be Doing
- Lead Business Discovery
- Facilitate discovery workshops with stakeholders and delivery teams
- Elicit and clarify business objectives, KPIs, definitions, risks, and constraints
- Ensure engineers and analysts participate directly in discovery wherever possible
- Translate discovery outcomes into structured analytical problem statements
- Write and model high‑quality data user stories and acceptance criteria
- Help teams define requirements that prioritise correctness, usability, and business value
- Coach engineers and analysts in effective discovery techniques
- Help teams ask stronger business questions and interpret requirements
- Support Engineering Managers in embedding discovery practices into their ways of working
- Define lightweight standards for discovery outputs, user stories, and business glossaries
- Encourage consistent practices across teams while allowing flexibility across domains
- Spot common themes, risks, and opportunities emerging from discovery activities
- Provide insights that help inform BI roadmap planning and strategic decision making
Essential Skills and Experience
- Experience working as a Business Analyst within data, analytics, or BI environments
- Strong understanding of data delivery, analytics workflows, and data‑driven products
- Proven experience facilitating discovery sessions and navigating ambiguous problem spaces
- Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills
- Ability to influence teams and stakeholders without formal authority
Desirable
- Experience working directly with Data Engineering teams
- Exposure to modern data platforms and analytical ecosystems
- Experience improving delivery practices or contributing to capability uplift
- Comfortable operating across multiple business domains
