Our mission is to create tech that makes a difference, empowers teams, delights customers, and shapes the media world of tomorrow. We’re one of the leading media advertising companies with over 33,000 advertising sites across the UK and EU. As part of the global Bauer Media Group, we’re committed to being both a platform for brands and a platform for good. From Netflix, Disney, The National Lottery, Heineken and many more, we advertise for some of the best brands which reach millions of people every day! We don’t just sell space, we deliver impact for our clients and value for the communities we serve.

London - 2 days a week | Salary for this role is dependant on your experience, you’ll also receive bonus + benefits.

About The Role

We're sunsetting our legacy system used by our clients and moving into a more sleek, advanced system where our clients can bid for advertising space, control the graphics on our advertising portals, view data and ad performance all in real time. You'll be key in the release of the platform and keeping it fresh with new feature builds and bug fixes when needed. The majority of the role is focused on BE work where you'll also act as a mentor to the more junior/mid level members of the team while working closely with Eliana who's our new Director of Engineering.

What you’ll be doing

  • Design and evolve high-throughput services with a focus on observability, fault tolerance, and cost-efficiency. You’ll own capacity planning and define the SLOs that keep our revenue‑critical systems stable.
  • Identify and resolve bottlenecks across APIs and data pipelines. You will optimize code and queries to minimize latency and maximize throughput under real‑world production loads.
  • Champion clean code, automated testing, and CI/CD. You’ll lead design reviews and introduce the metrics necessary to measure and improve long‑term system health and maintainability.
  • As a mentor and POC, you'll shape the technical roadmap of our advertising platform.

What you’ll bring to the team

  • Strong experience building and operating production‑grade software systems using NodeJS, Typescript and React.
  • Experience designing distributed systems and cloud‑based architectures in AWS.
  • Demonstrated ability to improve system performance, scalability, and reliability.
  • Deep understanding of non‑functional requirements and how they influence architecture.
  • Backend focused engineering with some frontend involved.

What’s In It For You

  • Company Pension Scheme paid up to 8%.
  • Life Insurance and group income protection scheme.
  • Cycle to work scheme.
  • Enhanced Maternity & Paternity Cover.

We believe in fairness and as an equal opportunities employer we work hard to foster an inclusive environment, a place where you can truly be yourself and be treated fairly. We’re interested in what you can do, not just what you’ve done. Even if you don’t meet every requirement listed, we’d still love to hear from you!
