What will you be doing? You will work as part of a two‑person crew, mainly breaking up ground and installing or replacing digital units and bus shelters for local communities. You must be willing to train to drive an HGV Class 2 vehicle to support this work. This role involves travelling to sites in the North West area, with occasional out‑of‑area travel and some night work as required. Lodging and reasonable overnight expenses will be provided with sufficient notice.
Compensation: £35,900 per annum, increasing after completing HGV Class 2 training, plus an annual bonus, 25 days’ paid leave plus bank holidays, training and development opportunities, fully expensed tools and PPE, and a physically demanding role that requires working at height with a small step ladder. If you are not HGV Class 2 qualified, we will train you at no cost. You must, however, be able to commute independently to our St Helens Depot.
Responsibilities & Accountabilities
- Transport digital units from the depot to the installation site via an HGV truck (after training)
- Break ground and install digital units
- Replace component level parts on digital units
- Collaborate with your crew partner to manage workload within agreed timescales and in partnership with other local teams
- Follow the Construction Design and Management regulations 2015
- Ensure traffic management is in place before starting work, using segregation and prevention measures to keep unauthorised people out of the working area
- Follow the Health and Safety policy and site‑specific risk assessments and method statements
- Use equipment correctly (including working at height), maintain and keep tools and equipment safe on site
Knowledge, Experience and Attributes
- Full driving licence with no more than 3 points
- CPCS slinger
- Competency in CAT use
- NRSWA accreditation to Operative standard
- Excavation and sub‑structure knowledge
- Understanding of RAMS
- Ability to read and understand technical drawings
- Competency in using power tools such as hydraulic breakers and disc saws
