Our mission is to create tech that makes a difference, empowers teams, delights customers, and shapes the media world of tomorrow. We’re one of the leading media advertising companies with over 33,000 advertising sites across the UK and EU. As part of the global Bauer Media Group, we’re committed to being both a platform for brands and a platform for good. From Netflix, Disney, The National Lottery, Heineken and many more, we advertise for some of the best brands which reach millions of people every day! We don’t just sell space, we deliver impact for our clients and value for the communities we serve.

About The Role

This is a hands‑on engineering role focused on the connectivity and device platform that powers our digital screen network across Europe. Our estate includes thousands of connected devices deployed in real‑world environments, including digital displays, edge compute nodes, and telemetry systems. Ensuring these devices remain securely connected, observable, and remotely manageable is critical to how our platform operates. You will work across IoT connectivity, edge networking, device lifecycle management, and cloud integration, helping ensure that our physical infrastructure operates reliably at scale. Alongside day‑to‑day engineering and operations, you will play a key role in modernising how connected devices are deployed, monitored, and managed across the platform through automation and modern engineering practices.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Design and operate the secure connectivity layer linking thousands of digital screens across Europe via 4G/5G and APN management.
  • Build and maintain high‑scale device messaging systems using protocols like MQTT, HTTP, and AMQP.
  • Streamline device provisioning and management through Python, APIs, and IaC.
  • Enhance fleet monitoring to ensure rapid detection and resolution of connectivity issues.
  • Partner with cross‑functional teams to evolve a secure, reliable, and scalable edge infrastructure.

What you’ll bring to the team:

  • Expertise in managing large‑scale connected device fleets, including lifecycle management (provisioning/OTA), firmware, and Linux‑based edge systems.
  • Knowledge of TCP/IP, VPNs, and wireless standards (BLE, LoRaWAN, NB‑IoT, 4G/5G) including SIM/APN configuration.
  • Proficient in IoT protocols (MQTT, HTTP, CoAP) and integrating device telemetry into Azure or similar cloud APIs.
  • Hands‑on experience with monitoring tools like Grafana, Zabbix, or Icinga to troubleshoot distributed infrastructure.
  • Grasp of ISO 27001/OWASP IoT principles and experience automating workflows via scripting or IaC.

What’s In It For You:

  • 25 paid holidays including bank holidays.
  • Company Pension Scheme paid up to 8%.
  • Healthcare Cash Plan.
  • Life Insurance and group income protection scheme.
  • Cycle to work scheme.
  • Enhanced Maternity & Paternity Cover.

We believe in fairness and as an equal opportunities employer we work hard to foster an inclusive environment, a place where you can truly be yourself and be treated fairly. We’re interested in what you can do, not just what you’ve done. Even if you don’t meet every requirement listed, we’d still love to hear from you!
