You’ll be joining our creative and fast-paced Puzzles team, a collaborative group passionate about producing high-quality content that entertains and challenges readers every day. We work across a diverse portfolio of over 30 magazine brands, as well as supporting sister brands within Bauer Media and external clients.
The Difference you will make. In this role, you’ll play a key part in creating engaging, accurate, and high-quality puzzle content that keeps our readers coming back for more. From crafting original puzzles to ensuring every page is polished and error-free, your work will directly impact the reader experience across multiple brands. You’ll also help maintain the high editorial standards we’re known for, supporting the delivery of magazines to print while contributing fresh ideas and creativity to the team. This is an exciting opportunity to combine your passion for puzzles with editorial expertise in a role where no two days are the same.
Your role. You’ll be responsible for creating, editing, and delivering engaging puzzle content while supporting the wider editorial process. Responsibilities include (but are not limited to):
- Creating and compiling engaging puzzle content across multiple magazine brands
- Supporting Editors in delivering titles to print with accuracy and consistency
- Making in-page adjustments to puzzles and accompanying copy
- Solving, checking, and proofreading pages to ensure quality and correctness
- Liaising with internal teams on competitions and promotional content
- Managing administrative tasks and maintaining strong stakeholder relationships
- Contributing to wider team projects both creatively and administratively
The Skills You Will Bring. Essential:
- Strong knowledge of a wide range of puzzle types (word, number, and logic)
- Excellent attention to detail and commitment to accuracy, demonstrable fact-checking skills
- Strong time management skills with the ability to prioritise effectively, forward plan and work to tight deadlines
- Ability to proofread and edit puzzles in volume
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Experience creating or editing written content, preferably in print
Desirable:
- Experience creating puzzles or puzzle-related content (print or digital)
- Ability to develop original puzzles or new puzzle concepts
- Familiarity with tools such as Adobe InDesign and Illustrator (or ability to learn quickly)
- Familiarity with using Macs
- Awareness of the puzzle magazine market and current trends
Working Pattern/Location. Hybrid working pattern (2 office days and 3 remote working, 9.00am - 5.30pm).
