About The Role

We are looking for a Lead Business Analyst to drive structured business discovery across our data and analytics initiatives. This role sits within our BI and Data function and works closely with Data Engineering teams, Engineering Managers, and business stakeholders across multiple domains. The focus of the role is not simply gathering requirements. It is about improving how the organisation understands problems, defines data needs, and turns business questions into high‑quality analytical outcomes. You will lead discovery activities, help shape data requirements, and coach teams to develop stronger discovery and business understanding skills over time.

What you’ll be doing

  • Lead stakeholder workshops to elicit business objectives, KPIs, and risks; ensure direct collaboration between business units and technical delivery teams.
  • Translate complex business needs into structured analytical problem statements, high‑quality user stories, and rigorous acceptance criteria.
  • Coach engineers and analysts in discovery techniques and critical thinking to improve the quality of requirements and business questioning.
  • Define and embed lightweight standards for discovery outputs, glossaries, and documentation to ensure consistency across domains.
  • Identify emerging trends and risks across discovery activities to inform the BI roadmap and drive strategic decision‑making.

What you’ll bring to the team

  • Proven experience as a Business Analyst within Data, BI, or Analytics environments, with a deep understanding of data‑driven product lifecycles.
  • Expert at leading discovery sessions and navigating complex, ill‑defined problem spaces.
  • Exceptional communication skills with the ability to influence cross‑functional teams and stakeholders without formal authority.
  • Experience partnering with Data Engineering teams within modern analytical ecosystems.
  • Track record of improving delivery practices, defining standards, or coaching teams.
  • Ability to operate effectively across diverse business functions and domains.

Benefits

  • 25 paid holidays including bank holidays
  • Company Pension Scheme paid up to 8%
  • Healthcare Cash Plan
  • Life Insurance and group income protection scheme
  • Cycle to work scheme
  • Enhanced Maternity & Paternity Cover

We believe in fairness and as an equal opportunities employer we work hard to foster an inclusive environment, a place where you can truly be yourself and be treated fairly. We’re interested in what you can do, not just what you’ve done. Even if you don’t meet every requirement listed, we’d still love to hear from you!
