Are you an experienced construction worker with a HGV Class 2 licence, looking to work locally? Are you NRSWA accredited, like working outdoors, and have some experience in simple groundworks and installation? If you’re someone who can learn on the job and turn your hand to various manual tasks, then this role could be what you are looking for.

A few years ago, we brought the construction of our advertising sites in house. Since then, the team have been extremely successful in delivering hundreds of site builds, including our newest digital units, billboards and large Storm installations. We’re excited to be working on some interesting projects next year and now looking for a Construction Operative to join our growing team in Portbury, Bristol.

What will you be doing? You’ll be working as part of a two-person crew, spending most of your day breaking up ground and replacing or installing new digital units for our local communities on the many contracts that we deliver on. This will involve travelling to sites (roadsides and public areas) within the South West area. You’ll have a company vehicle to help you do this, an attractive salary of £37,000 - £40,000, annual bonus, paid annual leave 25 days plus bank holidays, opportunities for training and development and fully expensed tools and PPE. It’s a physically demanding role which requires you to work at height, mainly using a small step ladder, so you’ll need to be a team player and watch/help out your crew partner. Also, you should be able to commute independently to and from your base depot in Bristol.

Responsibilities & Accountabilities:

  • Transport digital units from the depot to the installation site via a HGV truck.
  • Break ground and install digital units.
  • Replace component level parts on digital units.
  • Follow the Construction Design and Management regulations 2015.
  • Make sure traffic management is in place before starting work with segregation/prevention measures to prevent unauthorised people within your working area.
  • Follow our Health and Safety policy and the site-specific risk assessments and method statements.
  • Correctly use equipment (including working at height), maintain and keep tools/equipment safe on site.

Knowledge, Experience and Attributes:

  • Full driving licence with no more than 3 points.
  • Class 2 HGV licence.
  • CPCS A36 Lorry loader hook [novice or above].
  • CPCS Slinger.
  • Competency in CAT use.
  • NRSWA accreditation to Operative standard.
  • CDM knowledge.
  • Excavation and sub-structure knowledge.
  • Understanding of RAMS.
  • Ability to read and understand technical drawings.
  • Competency in use of power tools such as Hydraulic breakers and Disc Saws.
