You’ll be joining our dynamic Digital Development team within Bauer Media Audio, where we build the back-end systems that power mobile, web, and voice-connected experiences across international markets. We work closely with product and technology teams to ensure our platforms meet the evolving needs of our audiences.

As a Senior Back-End Engineer, you’ll play a pivotal role in shaping the future of Bauer’s digital platforms. You’ll lead the development of client-agnostic services, mentor junior engineers, and collaborate across teams to deliver secure, resilient, and high-performing systems. Your role

You’ll be responsible for leading development efforts, mentoring team members, and ensuring our systems are robust, scalable, and aligned with business goals.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain back-end services using Go, TypeScript, PHP, and SQL.
  • Lead small feature-driven sub-teams and mentor junior engineers.
  • Collaborate with product and technology teams to align development with customer needs.
  • Champion DevOps practices under a “you build it, you run it” model.
  • Participate in incident management rotas and provide technical support.
  • Contribute to recruitment and onboarding of new team members.
  • Ensure high standards of security, performance, and resilience across systems.

  • Proven experience mentoring and leading development teams.
  • Strong proficiency in Go, TypeScript, PHP, and SQL.
  • Deep understanding of AWS, Cloudflare, and DevOps principles.

Working Pattern/Location

This is a permanent, full-time role based in the United Kingdom, with remote working as standard. Participation in incident management rotas is required.
