Objective:
Working within the Technical department reporting to the Head of Technical, this role offers an exciting and challenging opportunity to provide support to the business through the analysis of specifications against client and technical requirements such as material compatibility & suitability, analysis of survey reports, checking for inconsistencies in proposals, production of technical calculations and production of technical detail drawings. Training will be provided, covering wind loads for the purpose of confirming enough fixing strength of our waterproofing systems, drainage calculations confirming the required number of Bauder outlets, thermal performance confirming insulation performance and production of technical detail drawings. The ideal candidate will be technically minded and originate from a construction industry/architectural background with a flat roof waterproofing system bias, have working knowledge of CAD, computer literacy and the ability to understand architectural drawings, with a keen eye for detail and the ability to communicate well at all levels are essential.
Outline of main responsibilities/duties:
- Produce, check and process incoming technical specification requests, detail drawing requests, technical documentation and technical calculations
- Checking of all incoming specification types produced for all waterproofing systems, against suitability and compatibility
- Checking of roof survey reports
- Liaisewith clients and Bauder Area Technical Sales Managers providing technical advice
- Detailed overview of flat roof waterproofing system construction
- Detailed overview of Industry Codes of Practice/Building Regulations
- Detailed overview of Part L and thermal calculations
- Team orientated approach - work as part of a busy, professional, integral team
- Dealing with telephone enquiries
- Checking and understanding specification construction, survey reports and construction drawings
- General administration
Any other duties deemed necessary to meet the demands of the department and business, including:
- Assist within Technical Department when staff shortage.
- To be flexible to work additional hours as and when the need arises.
- To be flexible to work off site/attend meetings as required.
- Provide day to day support within the department as the business demands
Key attributes:
- Working knowledge of roof waterproofing systems and their construction would be advantageous
- A good level of spelling and grammar is essential
- Technically capable and/or qualified, logical and precise, with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail
- Building fabric knowledge – overview of industry standards & codes of practice
- Analytical approach
- Able to read and understand architectural drawings
- Approachable and diplomatic
- CAD experience advantageous but not essential
- Ability to work pro-actively both as an individual and as part of a team
- Driven and motivated
