DUCK and RICE are recruiting a Maintenance Assistant for their Battersea Power Station Restaurant.
Reporting to: General Manager
Start Date: As soon as possible.
Salary: TBC
The Role
As a Maintenance Assistant, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operation and upkeep of facilities and equipment. Your responsibilities include performing routine maintenance tasks, troubleshooting issues, and collaborating with the maintenance team to address various repair needs. The ideal candidate should have a strong technical aptitude, attention to detail, and a proactive approach to maintenance activities.
Responsibilities
- Conduct regular inspections of facilities and equipment to identify and address maintenance needs.
- Perform preventive maintenance on machinery, systems, plumbing, and electrical systems.
- Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities and report issues to the maintenance manager.
Repairs and Troubleshooting:
- Respond promptly to repair requests and troubleshoot issues with equipment and facilities.
- Collaborate with the maintenance team to diagnose and resolve complex maintenance problems.
- Assist in repairing or replacing faulty components to minimize downtime.
Safety Compliance:
- Adhere to safety protocols and guidelines during maintenance tasks.
- Identify and report safety hazards to the maintenance manager.
- Participate in safety training and promote a safety culture.
Collaboration:
- Work with other maintenance staff, contractors, and relevant departments.
- Communicate effectively to improve maintenance efficiency.
Inventory Management:
- Monitor and manage maintenance supplies and equipment inventory.
- Coordinate with procurement to ensure timely replenishment.
General Maintenance
- Respond to emergencies and prioritize critical maintenance impacting safety, trading, and customer service.
- Conduct planned services within your ability and training.
- Assist external contractors as needed.
- Ensure safety information is shared with staff.
- Complete basic maintenance tasks using PPE, avoiding gas work, and adhering to safety policies.
Electrical
- Undertake electrical modifications safely within your scope and training.
- Assist with electrical diagnostics and repairs.
- Install electrical, IT, and EPOS equipment as required.
Plumbing
- Perform plumbing fault finding and repairs.
Legal, compliance, and administration
- Follow company policies and adhere to statutory requirements.
- Maintain compliance certificates and follow regulations.
- Ensure work sites are safe and compliant with health and safety standards.
Health & safety and staff welfare
- Report and rectify hazards promptly.
- Ensure safety of persons and property.
- Train staff in safety procedures.
- Promote safety awareness and enforce policies.
Statutory Duties
Act in the best interest of the company, promote success, exercise judgment, take ownership, and avoid conflicts of interest. Declare interests and benefits, and adhere to conduct codes.
