Full-time, 40 hrs per week, 8:30am to 5:00pm, 5 days a week, with a 30‑minute unpaid lunch. Shift rota will determine working pattern. Overtime and on‑call rosters apply.

Summary

This is a full‑time role for a Mobile HIU Technician in the London area.

Responsibilities include day‑to‑day tasks associated with heat interface units, planned and reactive maintenance, and working closely with the service desk to maintain a high level of service to residential customers.

Qualified technicians may train or mentor junior staff.

The team is managed by a HIU Team Manager.

Responsibilities and Deliverables

  • Conduct HIU/CIU inspections and reactive maintenance within the required timeframe of Residential Supply Agreements.
  • Perform repairs identified during servicing including removal, replacement of pumps, valves, actuators, and bleeding systems.
  • Update work orders in a timely manner using the asset management system.
  • Liaise with the service desk to rebook and close on‑hold jobs promptly.
  • Manage personal van stock and contact management for critical parts.
  • Follow the company Health & Safety policy.
  • Support teammates to meet objectives.
  • Handle heat meter work such as battery replacement, meter replacement, or error investigation with the Metering Team.
  • Report PPMs / reactive jobs completed, on hold or requiring further action on a bi‑weekly basis.
  • Understand and follow the escalation process for issues outside the technician’s remit.
  • Deliver a first‑class customer service.
  • Prioritise tasks effectively under pressure.
  • Mentor Junior Technicians when required.
  • Role Requirements
  • Minimum two years of experience in plumbing or HVAC industry.
  • Ability to work independently or as part of a team.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Experience in a residential environment.
  • Strong technical knowledge of communal and district heating systems.
  • Experience maintaining and troubleshooting HIUs.
  • Qualifications: ND / City & Guilds / NVQ level 3 in Mechanical (preferred but not required).
  • Passion for emerging energy technologies and Net Zero initiatives.
  • Basic Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Word) skills.
  • Full UK driving licence.
  • Positive attitude, time management, and ability to meet deadlines.
