Battersea Fields Practice is a rapidly growing GP practice in Wandsworth, with a diverse patient population. Our friendly and ambitious team will soon be expanding into a newly built health centre at Nine Elms, and we are looking for an administrator to join us. This is a very important and varied role - our CAT team form the backbone of the practice and ensure that processes are running smoothly in order to ensure that patients receive the care that they need. We are therefore looking for someone with experience of working in an administrative capacity in general practice, and who is enthusiastic, hard working, organised and has a good eye for detail.
Main duties of the job:
- Work as part of the Clinical Administration Team (CAT Team) to handle administrative tasks relating to patients. This includes processing prescriptions, creating medical reports, processing incoming registrations and deductions, and summarising patient notes.

Battersea Fields is a practice of around 14,500 patients in Wandsworth, SW London. The practice is run by 4 Partners and a Business Manager, supported by two Deputy Practice Managers, a team of departmental supervisors, and our dedicated team of Administrators and Receptionists. We work across two sites - Austin Road (SW11) and a small branch site, which as of March 2026 will be moved to a new health centre in Sleaford Street (SW8). All staff are expected to work across both sites. We have a friendly and supportive team with a strong ethos of teamwork. Our team is committed to working hard to serve the needs of our patients and the local community.
Job responsibilities:
- Process incoming and outgoing mail
- Scan, review and file incoming clinical documents via EMIS and Docman according to practice protocols
- Identify relevant clinical information documented in patient correspondence, coding appropriately and completing any detailed actions
- Run searches and audits on the clinical system and act on the information gained, arranging reviews, immunisation recalls, health checks etc
- Keep safeguarding and other records up to date
- Liaise with patients with long term conditions and arrange regular reviews
- Process referrals to external agencies such as secondary care
- Input data into the patients healthcare records as necessary
- Process incoming test results, ensuring they are referred to the relevant clinician
- Input and extract data as required to support practice reports
- Follow up clinical tasks as requested by other members of the team
- Process repeat prescriptions
- Support all clinical staff with general administrative tasks as requested
- Process all letters and documents in accordance with current protocols
- Process new patient registrations and deductions
- Attend practice meetings
- Effectively manage own time, workload and resources
- Maintain accurate records at all times
- Any other tasks that may be required by the Practice team from time to time.
Person Specification:
Knowledge and Skills:
- Good numeracy and literacy skills
- Knowledge of Docman and EMIS web
Experience:
- Recent previous experience working as a Clinical Administrator in an NHS GP practice
