We are looking for a friendly, motivated and customer-focused Retail and Museum Assistant Manager to join our team in Battersea Power Station, London. This role combines museum visitor engagement with retail responsibilities and would suit someone with previous experience of working in a museum, gallery or cultural venue. Strong sales skills in a retail/cultural environment are essential.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide a welcoming and professional experience for museum visitors
  • Warmly engage customers in the museum shop, demonstrate deep product knowledge and upsell where appropriate
  • Process sales transactions and fulfil online orders where necessary
  • Answer visitor enquiries and share information about the museum, events and promotions
  • Facilitate monthly events hosted by a variety of visiting artists, designers and makers including craft workshops and studio pop-ups
  • Maintain high visual merchandising standards
  • Receive and process deliveries, adding new stock to inventory
  • Maintain an organised stock room, assisting with stock management and shop floor replenishment
  • Compile daily trade reports and share with colleagues and management
  • Carry out delegated tasks with accuracy
  • Carry out opening/closing and assist with waste disposal as required
Essential Requirements
  • Minimum two years retail experience, using POS systems eg. Lightspeed and Shopify, in a customer-facing environment
  • Professional, approachable and confident dealing with museum visitors & customers
  • Ability to work weekends
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Excellent communication skills with visitors, colleagues and management
  • Ability to contribute to a positive work environment
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team and also independently
  • Experience in visitor engagement or public-facing roles
Desirable
  • Experience in a retail operation of a museum, gallery or cultural venue
  • Interest in museums, arts and culture, as well as in creative retail and artisanal products.
  • Open to sharing ideas with the buying/events team on new products and workshops that could be hosted in-store.
  • Experience in fulfilling online orders
