Salary: £35,360 – £36,400 per year (Based on 40 hour weeks)

Hours: 40–45 hours per week | Monday to Friday

Working alongside the Department Lead and Operations Coordinator, you'll help lead the day-to-day operations of our Grounds Maintenance department, supporting over 25 operatives across 8+ operational teams. You'll spend the majority of your time out on sites, working hands on with our teams, coaching staff, driving quality, delivering training, resolving issues, and ensuring every team consistently delivers work to the highest standard. You'll also play an important role in planning workloads, allocating resources, and ensuring contracts run efficiently and safely.

We're looking for someone who wants to help build one of the best Grounds Maintenance operations in the region:

  • Lead, motivate and support multiple Grounds Maintenance Teams.
  • Carry out regular quality inspections and team audits.
  • Coach, mentor and develop employees through regular feedback and practical support.
  • Deliver inductions, onboarding programmes, refresher training, toolbox talks and practical workshops.
  • Manage performance professionally, fairly and consistently.
  • Work closely with the management team to plan labour resources, workloads and daily schedules.
  • Support the Department Lead and Operations Coordinator with the day-to-day running of the department.

You'll be an experienced leader within the commercial Grounds Maintenance industry who thrives on developing people and raising standards. Holds people accountable whilst supporting them to improve. You will have significant experience supervising or managing teams within the commercial Grounds Maintenance industry together with a thorough understanding of:

  • Commercial Grounds Maintenance operations.
  • Grass cutting, hedge maintenance, shrub maintenance and horticultural best practice.
  • Grounds Maintenance machinery, plant and equipment.
  • Staff management, coaching and performance development.
  • Delivering practical training, inductions, refresher training and toolbox talks.
  • Planning workloads and allocating resources effectively.
  • Working to KPIs and performance targets.

A full UK Driving Licence is essential. Experience working on commercial Grounds Maintenance contracts. This role has clear performance objectives, including:

Salary: £35,360 – £36,400 per year (Based on 40 hour weeks) – Rate depends on experience and qualifications.

Monday to Friday 40–45 hours per week. Overtime Rates: Time & ¼ – Weekdays (after 40 hours), Time & ½ – Weekends.

Career Development Opportunities: Depending on your experience, knowledge and performance, there may be opportunities to expand your responsibilities by:

  • Supporting the supervision and operational delivery of our Landscaping division.
  • Progressing into a Contracts Management role, pricing, and managing Grounds Maintenance, Landscaping and Tree Works projects.
  • Becoming involved in contract mobilisation, estimating, operational planning and wider business improvement initiatives.

Candidates with previous experience in landscaping operations, estimating, contract management or project delivery are encouraged to highlight this within their application. Whilst these additional responsibilities are not essential for this position, we actively encourage career progression and are committed to investing in people who demonstrate the capability, ambition and values to grow with our business.
