Who We Are
YMCA Brunel Group is a local, independent charity serving Mendip, Bath, Bristol, Wiltshire, and South Somerset as part of the global YMCA movement. Our mission is to build inclusive, supportive, and vibrant communities where people feel they belong, can contribute, and grow.
What We Do
- Housing: We provide homes and holistic support to over 700 individuals each year, including those at risk of homelessness, facing financial hardship, or needing high support levels.
- Health & Wellbeing: Our centre in Bath offers a fully-equipped gym, functional fitness areas, and a diverse class program.
- Youth Clubs: We run 12 youth clubs for ages 11-19, including groups for young carers, offering safe spaces to connect, learn, and grow.
- Nurseries: With eight nurseries across the region, we provide high-quality early education to 360 children, supporting their journey into school and beyond.
- Commercial Hostels: Our hostels in Bath and Bristol support our work while also covering essential operational costs.
Role Overview
As a Youth Worker, you’ll provide a safe, welcoming, and fun environment for young people aged 11-19 accessing youth clubs in South Somerset, to design, deliver and evaluate a range of informal learning opportunities.
Qualifications & Experience
- A Level 2 qualification in youth work or equivalent experience in youth engagement.
- Previous experience working face-to-face with young people in a paid or voluntary capacity aged 11-19.
- A knowledge of issues affecting young people to aid them to achieve their full potential.
Location: South Somerset
Hours: 3 hours per week 4:30 - 7:30pm Term time only (Monday evenings)
Contract: Fixed until 31st December (potential extension based on funding)
Rate of Pay: £12.37 per hour
